Pokemon Fan Creates New Mega Evolution for Yveltal

Mega Evolution has been incredibly popular among Pokemon fans since it was introduced, with the phenomenon recently inspiring an artist from the Pokemon community to create their own Mega Yveltal design. Though the legendary Pokemon Xerneas and Yveltal strangely didn't get their own official Mega forms when they were introduced in the Gen 6 Pokemon games, fans have shared many of their own custom designs over the years, with the recent reveal of Pokemon Legends: Z-A resulting in tons of new fan-made Mega concepts.

As beloved as Mega Evolution is among much of the Pokemon community, newer fans of the franchise may have never heard of it due to the phenomenon of Mega Evolution being absent from every core-series Pokemon game since the Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! titles, which were released back in 2018. Introduced in Pokemon X and Y while also playing a major role in the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games, Mega Evolution allows Pokemon to evolve beyond their final evolutionary stage for a brief period, gaining significantly boosted stats alongside a new appearance. Not every Pokemon can Mega Evolve, however, though a select few Pokemon do have multiple unique Mega forms.

Since the box legendaries of the Gen 6 Pokemon games oddly didn't receive official Mega forms, one artistic member of the Pokemon community known as El-psy-congroo-01 recently designed their own Mega form for Yveltal. This fantastic custom Mega Evolution has attracted plenty of attention among fans in no time at all, and features a whole new design for Yveltal which somewhat incorporates the colors of the legendary Pokemon's shiny version. This Mega form also sees Yveltal's secondary Flying-type swapped out for the Ghost-type, and, as some fans were quick to point out, bears some resemblance to Darkrai in certain areas.

The legendary Pokemon of the Kalos region may never have received their own Mega forms, but they have been obtainable in almost every core-series Pokemon titl
