Pokemon Fan Creates Fusion Art of Lucario and Mudkip

A Pokemon fan has recently created a unique piece of fan art by fusing Mudkip and Lucario. While fusions are not allowed in the mainline Pokemon games released so far, fans like to fuse different creatures when doing fan art, often achieving excellent results.

Mudkip is a Water-type creature that was originally introduced in the 3rd generation of Pokemon games, first appearing in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The cute tadpole-like monster was one of the starters of the generation, evolving to Marshtomb on Level 16 and then Swampert on Level 36. Lucario, on the other hand, was introduced in the 4th Gen, evolving from Riolu when the player maintains their Pokemon with a high friendship level during the day.

Now, a Pokemon fan called rc1246 decided to unite Mudkip and Lucario in fan art, creating an unnamed Water/Fighting-type creature. The Mudkip-Lucario fusion essentially looks a lot like a Mudkip that has grown to a human-like size. This new design keeps the same head shape and tail as the Water-type monster with a body shaped more like Lucario’s. Overall, it feels like a pretty good combination that may not resemble Lucario a lot due to removing its dog-inspired head, but it still manages to look like a powered-up Mudkip.

The Reddit user is a prolific creator of Pokemon fan art, and this is far from the first time the artist has shared artwork about fusions. Back in 2023, for example, rc1246 posted an uncanny fusion of Quagsire and Ditto. It’s pretty memorable art because it looks a lot like Ditto tried to turn into a Quagsire, but it failed in the middle of the process and started to melt.

Another noteworthy piece of artwork the fan recently made was the baby forms of Zekrom and Reshiram. In this lovely artwork, the legendary dragons were featured as cute little monsters that looked adorable.

When looking at the art made by the Pokemon community, it’s not hard to find other excellent examples of beautiful fan creations. A few months ago, for instance, a fan artist
