PlayStation Portal’s latest update is now available

Sony has released the latest PlayStation Portal update.

As previously reported, the update lets players connect the PS5 remote play device to public Wi-Fi networks.

In order to do so, PS Portal can now generate a QR code for players to scan using a mobile or tablet, which can then be used to complete the necessary sign-in steps.

The update also introduces visual feedback when using the touchpad area on the Portal’s screen during remote play.

And players can now choose to display the system’s remaining battery level as a percentage on the status bar at the top right of the screen.

The update also improves system software performance and stability, as well as the messages and usability on some screens, according to Sony’s patch notes, which we’ve republished in full below.

Sony has reportedly decided not to attend Gamescom for the fifth consecutive year.

In recent years the company has opted to showcase its games through its own digital events, rather than host conferences or have a significant physical presence at major industry conventions like August’s expo in Germany, which comes at a considerable expense.

Sony used a State of Play presentation in May to announce launch dates for 2024 releases including Concord (August 23), Astro Bot (September 6) and the PC version of God of War Ragnarök (September 19).
