Peter Moore Thinks Microsoft Would 'Love' An All-Cloud Future

A recent interview with former Xbox boss Peter Moore suggested that Microsoft would likely not be opposed to shifting its focus to cloud gaming for the company's future. Microsoft's Xbox gaming brand has been at the forefront of cloud gaming for several years, with Game Pass heavily pushing cloud gaming through the subscription service. The Xbox Cloud Gaming service also allows players to play console games on PC through cloud streaming with its Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, Peter Moore believes that cloud gaming may be the main focus for Microsoft in the future.

First joining Microsoft in 2003, Peter Moore spent four years with the developer as a corporate vice president, overseeing the development of Microsoft's fledgling gaming brand. Moore helped to build the Xbox brand and oversaw much of the company's gaming operations, helping the Xbox to compete against gaming mainstays like Nintendo and Sony. While Moore would leave in 2007, he would remain prevalent in gaming for years, serving in an executive role for Electronic Arts. Now, Peter Moore has some thoughts about Microsoft's future in cloud gaming.

As reported by PureXbox, Peter Moore recently shared his view on Xbox's future in the cloud gaming market in an interview with IGN. During the interview, Moore said that he believed «Microsoft would love it if everything moved into the cloud» when asked about Xbox's cloud gaming service. Moore was asked for his opinion on speculation about the winding down of consoles, suggesting that Sony's PS5 serves as a «barometer console» in gaming. Moore also commented on the difficulty of launching new consoles, with companies being forced to prepare for «billions of dollars in losses.»
