Baldur's Gate 3 modders are already using its jailbroken level editor to make the game's first custom maps, including a proof-of-concept level in Hell

It only took two days for modder Siegfre to crack open Baldur's Gate 3's official mod tools, unlocking a level editor that could let fans create their own custom modules or even full campaigns. A week later, and that's already started to bear fruit, with some modders sharing images and videos of playable custom levels.

There are weird games, and then there's Judero: a delectably Scottish adventure made out of action figures and Harryhausenesque claymation where you fight faeries, lizards, and Englishmen

I already dug the demo for Judero, a new action adventure game from developer duo Talah Kaya and Jack King-Spooner, but the full game is managing to surpass my expectations: Judero is weird, and it is well-worth your time.

Somewhere between Death Stranding and A Short Hike, there's Caravan SandWitch

A new narrative-driven indie exploration game has some really neat stuff going on, playing out like a narrative mix of exploration and story somewhere between a modern Zelda  game, Death Stranding, and indie darling A Short Hike. It's a nonviolent game focused on traveling, exploring, meeting characters, and using tools to solve puzzles.

One Baldur's Gate 3 player retaliated against Act 3's annoying wizard street performers with a frame rate-tanking, 100+ exploding barrel nuclear strike

What's the most you've ever overreacted to an annoyance in a game? I'll quicksave before murdering an NPC who sent me on a fetch quest to the dungeon I just came from, sure, but Baldur's Gate 3 player jakethebrick_ took things to a whole new level: Killing off the Lower City's somewhat obnoxious street performers with a doom stack of over 100 oil, firewine, smokepowder, and runepowder barrels, producing the biggest explosion I've ever seen in the game.

It only took two days for someone to unlock a developer mode in Baldur's Gate 3's modding tools, opening up the possibility of custom levels and campaigns

Just two days after Larian released Patch 7 for Baldur's Gate 3, a massive update that included official mod tools and an in-game mod browser, modder Siegfre on the Nexus uploaded BG3 Toolkit Unlocked. This mod reactivates disabled features of the toolkit, including a full level editor. It's early days yet, but this could open the possibility for custom areas or even standalone campaigns made using Baldur's Gate 3's engine.

Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 7 tweaked one of the game's most brutal scenes to twist the knife even more

One thing I was particularly curious about in the lead-up to Baldur's Gate 3's mondo-big Patch 7 was its change to Alfira, a fairly significant side-character and quest-giver. In the lead-up to release, Larian mentioned that Alfira would be able to level up and even respec with Withers, raising questions about her storyline and how it intersects with one of BG3's origin paths in particular. In brief: Don't go crazy, she's not a full companion now or anything. Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3 Act 1 and The Dark Urge below.

Some of Baldur's Gate 3's new evil endings are so nasty they're hard to watch, and there's a unique variation for each origin character

If you're anything like me, you greeted the news of Baldur's Gate 3's expanded evil endings in the mammoth Patch 7 with a «Oh, that sounds interesting, but there's no way I could stomach actually unlocking them.» Luckily for us soft-hearted roleplayers, those bad boys are on YouTube in force, and they're well-worth seeing—even if it's just to give some added weight to your «canon» happy ending. Spoilers ahead for Patch 7's new endings.
