Counter-Strike 2 pro falls foul of the SnapTap ban and fesses up: 'embarrassing and amateur'

Valve recently made a big call with Counter-Strike 2, and drew a line in the sand when it comes to a feature called SnapTap. Mostly associated with Razer keyboards, though identical features can be found on other hardware, SnapTap basically enables players to counter-strafe more easily in the game: So Valve has banned it (alongside other automation tools), with the ESL quickly doing the same on August 29.

Dragon's Dogma 2 was the sign-off for Capcom legend Hideaki Itsuno, who's leaving to do his own thing after three decades at the top

Capcom veteran Hideaki Itsuno has announced his departure from the Japanese videogame giant, after over 30 years as a senior member of its development staff. Itsuno is best-known for his work on the Devil May Cry series, created by Hideki Kamiya but arguably reaching its peak with the Itsuno-directed Devil May Cry 3, and Dragon's Dogma, Itsuno's own dream game with the sequel turning out as his last major project for Capcom.

Bethesda bans Doom mod about a resurrected mech-demon Margaret Thatcher because it's apparently a bit close to 'real-world politics'

Bethesda has removed the Doom mod Thatcher's Techbase from its certified mod listings, apparently following a complaint from a user or users about the mod's subject matter being political. Thatcher's Techbase is built around attacking the hellish alt-universe lair of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who was in office from 1979 to 1990 and died in 2013, but has now been resurrected in «The Tenth Circle of Hell: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.»

Demonschool, the Persona-like tactical RPG about battling demons while getting a good education, has been delayed into 2025 so developers can add 'more life and liveliness' to the game world

Quite a few PC Gamer folk have been excited for Demonschool since it was announced at the PC Gaming Show in 2022. Rich Stanton said it was «one to keep a disembodied eye on,» Robin Valentine said it has the potential to deliver «the most interesting turn-based combats of 2024,» and Harvey Randall predicted that it could be «another Into the Breach.» That's a lot of enthusiasm! And so it genuinely pains me to have to be the one to tell them (and you) the game has been delayed into early 2025.

Phantom Blade Zero plays less like Sekiro, more like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty—and I couldn't be happier

I got to sit down and play Phantom Blade Zero at Gamescom last week and—after muddling a bit to find my booth in the chaos of a bustling floor—came away quite impressed. Judging by the reactions of my fellow demo-triers, one of whom managed to beat it a whole 7 minutes before me (I'm not upset), it's looking to be a sleeper hit.

As scandal surrounds the MrBeast empire, MrBeast lawyers up and goes into bunker mode

Jimmy «MrBeast» Donaldson's YouTube career began in 2012, and a dozen years and over 800 videos later he is the undisputed king of YouTube. In its earliest years the channel was a relatively unremarkable mix of Minecraft and reaction videos, before Donaldson stumbled upon something that really worked: counting.

Even Phil Spencer's been bugging Todd Howard to get vehicles in Starfield: 'Come on Todd… I'm tired of walking'

Gamescom Opening Night Live saw Bethesda announce the release date of Starfield's first expansion, Shattered Space, alongside a brief trailer and the surprise early launch of the game's new vehicle. The Rev-8 is now available in-game for all players (talk to your ship technician) and has big Mako energy, with shock absorbers working overtime on the rocky ground (and yes, it has a gun, too).

Twitch launches new Drop Ins collaboration feature but doesn't let streamers opt out: 'You can't turn it off'

Streaming platform Twitch has announced and launched Drop Ins, a new feature «designed to make it easier for people to just 'drop in' on each other while they are streaming.» The collaboration tool allows streamers to «knock» on other live streamers, who will then receive a notification visible only to them, which if accepted will start a joint stream. The tool is designed with multiple collaborators in mind, though Twitch's announcement doesn't detail what the upper limit on participants is.
