Space Marine 2's lead dev says more games can trace their DNA back to 40K than people might think: 'Many young gamers probably don't realize the influence it had on your favorite game'

Everyone loves a space marine. But is it just a coincidence that so many of our favorite franchises feature heroes fully encased in hulking power armor? Not so, says Tim Willits, chief creative officer at Saber Interactive (and, I imagine, most people who've seen more than one flavor of space marine). In an interview with PC Gamer at Gamescom, Willits said every Master Chief and Doomguy has a healthy amount of Warhammer under all that heavy plating.

There was a wedding at the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer reveal: 'Our love is stronger than any meta'

As a legendary mercenary once said, love can bloom anywhere—even on a battlefield. It was proven this week at Call of Duty: Next, as CoD-focused content creators flocked to Washington D.C. to try Black Ops 6's multiplayer and, in the case of two specific attendees, join in holy matrimony.

Deadlock wins the award for best placeholder UI text I've ever read with this one-line character bio calling one of its heroes an a**hole

Now that Valve is acknowledging that okay, yes, Deadlock exists, we're free to discuss its excellent vibes. A major piece of the hero shooter MOBA's aesthetic is of course the heroes themselves: a colorful cast of occultists, interplanar anomalies, and—according to its unfinalized character backgrounds—at least one asshole.

'This game is going to easily—and I mean easily—take over': Major streamers, early fans, and esports players share their Deadlock hype after Valve opens the floodgates

Late last Friday, after spending months pretending that its worst-kept secret didn't exist, Valve revealed Deadlock to the world. The official announcement came with Valve's blessing for public discussion, meaning that streamer takes, fan sites, and social media conversations could finally reference the third person shooter MOBA's closed alpha test in the open. Now that speaking its name isn't a thought crime, notable Deadlock players are telling us their takes—and a lot of them think Valve's lining up another hit.

Harvey Randall - Lincoln Carpenter - Ion Hazzikostas - World of Warcraft director Ion Hazzikostas says the Worldsoul Saga is letting Blizzard give its villains some much-needed character: 'Dragons are really cool, but it's hard to grasp the motivations of a being the size of a city' - pcgamer.com

World of Warcraft director Ion Hazzikostas says the Worldsoul Saga is letting Blizzard give its villains some much-needed character: 'Dragons are really cool, but it's hard to grasp the motivations of a being the size of a city'

World of Warcraft is entering a new era. «Even though we're entering our 20th year, it's a time when new and returning players can get in on the ground floor of a story,» Ion Hazzikostas, game director for World of Warcraft, said in an interview at Gamescom with PC Gamer's Harvey Randall. The Worldsoul Saga, the three-expansion arc beginning with the imminent release of The War Within, is giving Blizzard a chance to sculpt WoW's story with a broader scope. And according to Hazzikostas, no character better embodies the new age of Warcraft storytelling than Xal'atath, WoW's latest archvillain.

Let's all just pretend that the Borderlands 4 reveal came at a better time

I'm glad to know that Borderlands 4 is on its way. Sure, the Borderlands sense of humor has worn a bit thin for me over the years, and sure, I think Claptrap is among the greatest torments ever inflicted on an undeserving humanity. When it comes down to it, though, I'm as much of a sucker for a bajillion procedurally generated guns as the next guy. Another Borderlands sequel is one I'll welcome.

Riddlemaster Randy Pitchford says the Borderlands 4 teaser contains 'several secrets'

The Borderlands 4 teaser at Gamescom's Opening Night Live was many things: a confirmation for a rumored sequel, a reveal unfortunately forced to follow in the immediate wake of the franchise's box-office fumble, and according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, a devious brain-tickler.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 imagines a medieval Europe that's mostly swords in its latest Gamescom gameplay teaser

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 made an appearance at today's Opening Night Live showcase at Gamescom, revealing a brief gameplay teaser for the upcoming sequel to the middle-ages action RPG. Henry is back, and the world's most plain-faced protagonist seems to have one goal in mind: Relentless swordfights with as many 15th century Bohemians as he can manage.
