It's been about a year since we've heard anything about the development of The Sims 5, and while there still isn't any real news about it, there's news that news is coming soon…ish.
Everyone knows that The Sims 4 gallery, the in-game hub where players can share and download their creations, is terrible. It's difficult to browse, search results rarely return what you want, and the hashtag system is finicky at best. Even EA knows, because it has a plan to fix the gallery with AI-powered image searching.
Project Rene, the codename for the next major Sims game, isn't cancelled. In fact, EA will be doing some closed multiplayer testing this fall. But the in-development game we've occasionally called "The Sims 5" isn't actually The Sims 5 at all, it says. Project Rene and The Sims 4 are both going to be part of «the Sims universe» for the foreseeable future.
If there's one thing that Stardew Valley players and Lego builders have in common, it's an impressive level of dedication to executing a creative vision. Stardew players are known for optimizing farm layouts that are equal parts beauty and efficiency, so it's no surprise that one of them went and built the entirety of Pelican Town in Lego. The feat took about 2 years to complete, its creator told PC Gamer.
In a blog post ominously titled "The future of Minecraft's development" this week, Mojang laid out the changes we can expect to its update schedule. The big one is that Minecraft is moving away from doing single, major game updates each summer in favor of smaller ones throughout the year and more frequent Minecraft Live presentations to match.

Chill building games are having a bit of a moment right now and the cozy game enjoyers are eating good. With that Tiny Glade release date looming next month, I'm so glad that I didn't get swept away and miss out on the adorable pastel city builder Gourdlets. Folks, you can decorate the inside of the buildings. I'm going to be stuck in this game forever. It's so much more detailed than I remember from the demo I tried last year, which makes total sense now that I know a rocket scientist quit her job to make it.
