Total War: Warhammer 3 has been in a weird place for a while, with 2023's experimental Shadows of Change DLC being so poorly received that Creative Assembly ended up reworking the whole thing and giving out freebies in the form of new lords. Things have been steadily improving, though, and with the reveal of Thrones of Decay they're poised to get even better—if CA sticks the landing.
While Blizzard set the standard for RTS and MMO storytelling a long time ago, that did not feel particularly evident in 2016's Warcraft movie, which despite doing extremely well in China failed to break even and garnered a great deal of negative criticism. But that has not put franchise director John Hight off the idea of another cinematic adaptation entirely. Cities: Skylines 2 didn't have a great start last year. When it launched in October, the sequel to the best city builder around garnered a mountain of criticism thanks to its wonky simulation and significant performance issues. Improvements have been made since then, but this week's launch of the first DLC, Beach Properties, has just riled players up again.

Dragon's Dogma 2 has finally arrived, and the reception has been… less than favourable. On Steam it now boasts more than 13,000 user reviews, and the majority of them are negative. Only 39% of players leaving reviews have given it a positive rating. It's not off to a good start.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is a stellar RPG, but as you may have noticed in our performance analysis it's not exactly the smoothest one. It's incredibly demanding on CPUs, resulting in performance issues that you won't be able to escape regardless of how beefy your rig is. Capcom is aware of this, it says, but it seems unlikely they'll be resolved by launch.
With embargoes lifted and reviews rolling in for Dragon's Dogma 2, I'm willing to say it: after more than a decade since the original game's release, Dragon's Dogma sickos are finally vindicated. We're poised to enter an era where we're regularly regaled by our friends' tales of their Arisen's latest, delightfully-sidetracked quests alongside a gang of misfit pawns. Even if Dragon's Dogma 2 follows its predecessor as a cult classic, it looks like it'll be a much bigger cult. After shotgunning a healthy hundred hours of adventure alongside his hand-sculpted goblin sidekick, Fraser Brown leads our own Dragon's Dogma 2 review with a bold declaration: «I guarantee this is a game that will be talked about for a long time.» Well, critics are already getting a strong start on the talking. Currently sitting with an admirable 87 on Metacritic, Dragon's Dogma 2 looks fit to follow Baldur's Gate 3 as a landmark fantasy RPG—assuming you can stomach some eminent jankiness.
Nobody should have to live a life where they can't get burned to a crisp by a dragon or hitch a ride on the back of a griffin, and thanks to the imminent launch of Dragon's Dogma 2 you'll soon be able to escape your dreary existence.
