Pentiment on PlayStation Has a Funny Oversight

After the recent release of Obsidian Entertainment's RPG Pentiment on PlayStation 4 and 5, gamers have noticed one hilarious oversight with this version of the game. Pentiment has had console exclusivity on Xbox since November 2022, and it seems Obsidian Entertainment missed one key detail during the transition to its new platform.

Pentiment is the newest RPG from iconic developer Obsidian Entertainment (previously behind Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity, among other titles). Originally released in late 2022, Pentiment received positive reviews, with particular praise reserved for its unique art style and replayability. Like many games caught up in the console wars, it was originally an Xbox console exclusive alongside its PC version. However, Microsoft's recent strategy of bringing Xbox exclusives to other platforms has seen the game finally arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in the last couple of days.

As first noticed by PushSquare, it seems that the Platinum Trophy for Pentiment may have been neglected by the developer. The Xbox version of the game has 41 achievements to unlock in total, which sees players tackle some of the toughest choices in Pentiment. This is compared to the 42 on PlayStation, so the Trophy does exist for players who collect every other Trophy in the game. However, it uses the placeholder name, «PlatinumTrophy,» which is as basic as a name gets for this sort of thing. Interestingly, the Trophy does have a custom photo, meaning it wasn't completely forgotten by the developer.

Trophy hunting is extremely important to many PlayStation gamers, just as achievement hunting is for Xbox players. Players are always on the lookout for the easiest Platinum Trophies to unlock with every new wave of releases, as they build up their profiles with as many Platinums as possible.
