Overwatch 2 Update Walks Back Buffs to Mauga, Sombra, and Symmetra

Overwatch 2 just introduced a small update that walked back some of the buffs to Mauga, Sombra, and Symmetra from the mid-Season 9 patch. While each Overwatch 2 hero retains some of the adjustments from the previous patch, this hotfix seeks to dial back their power after a week of overperformance.

On March 12, Overwatch 2 released its mid-Season 9 patch. While not as large as its predecessor at the beginning of the season, this massive update buffed almost half the cast of playable heroes.

Now, Overwatch 2 has walked back some of the adjustments to three of these characters in particular. In this most recent update, Mauga, Sombra, and Symmetra received nerfs that undid some of the buffs they received the week before. The buffs ended up overturning the heroes – especially Mauga, who is no stranger to dominating Overwatch 2 – so hopefully these adjustments will help balance the scales once more.

The changes to Mauga’s Cardiac Overdrive from the Overwatch 2 mid-Season 9 patch have been fully reverted, and he lost a little health to boot, though he did retain the damage bonus to his Stomp ability. Sombra’s EMP Ultimate lost the cost reduction from the previous patch, but the buff to her Virus and Translocator remain. Symmetra, on the other hand, had the buff to her Photo Projector undone, and her Sentry Turret’s health was reduced from 50 to 40 – still 10 more than it was before last week’s patch. The damage of her Sentry Turret, and the health of her Teleporter, remain unchanged.

As a live service game, these changes could always be further adjusted in the future, and the FPS will undoubtedly continue to tweak its heroes as the game progresses. Overwatch 2 is already planning on a small rework for Wrecking Ball in Season 10, so fans can expect even more hero updates in about a month at the latest, if not before then.

Overwatch 2 recently wrapped up a Developer Update that teased tons of new information about the game as well. Starting in Season 10, all players will be able
