Overwatch 2 Fans Have One Big Complaint About Cassidy's Cowboy Bebop Skin

Overwatch 2 fans are disappointed with the lack of a hat for Cassidy's new Spike Spiegel skin, which puts his long, spiky hair on full display. The recently added skin is part of Overwatch 2's Cowboy Bebop collaboration that began on March 12.

Overwatch's Cowboy Bebop event, which ends on March 25, allows players to earn a free Legendary skin for Wrecking Ball based on Ein, a beloved dog from the popular show. Completing the event's challenges also sees players unlock a name card, weapon charm, battle pass XP, and more for free. Players willing to spend some Overwatch Coins can unlock the event's four other Legendary skins through the in-game shop, which include Ashe's Faye Valentine, Sombra's Ed, Mauga's Jet Black, and Cassidy's Spike Spiegel. However, Spike's skin has drawn some criticism.

Reddit user SuchAlternative2493 posted a threat titled, «Where's my man's hat» alongside an image that compared the Spike Spiegel shown in Overwatch 2's trailer for the event to the in-game version ofCowboy Bebop's main protagonist. Based on the trailer and other Cassidy skins, many players assumed that the Spike skin would feature his hat, but his hatless head sports long, spiky black hair instead. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Overwatch 2's art director explained that they chose to remove the hat to make the skin «even more unique than usual,» as Cassidy skins historically use one hat or another to recreate the original skin's cowboy appearance. However, many Overwatch 2 users are not fans of this choice and are calling for Blizzard to add an option to equip Spike's usual hat.

This seems like a realistic request since many of the Spike Spiegel skin's emotes cause his hat to appear. These emotes give a preview of what a hatted Spike would look like as seen in Overwatch 2's original announcement, and many commenting fans believe it's an improved look.

While some fans might be disappointed with the Cowboy Bebop skin, they can still look forward to Overwatch 2's recently
