One Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Makes One Crop Better Than The Rest

has a large variety of crops to grow for the authentic farm simulation experience, but the 1.6 update puts the spotlight on one choice in particular that can yield higher profits than ever before. With fruits, vegetables, flowers and more, there's plenty to grow all year round, and deciding how to optimize a high-performing farm can be difficult. As the game has grown in complexity over the years, the sense of overwhelming options has only increased, making knowing a few tips and tricks more essential than ever.

Update 1.6 is only the latest in a long line of additions to, with eight years of patches continually improving and adding to the game for free. From the inclusion of coffee back in 1.1 to new crops like ginger and pineapple that arrived in 2023's 1.5 update, basically any sort of farm should be more than covered. 1.6 introduces several new crops of its own, but one of the biggest changes to cultivation instead comes in the form of raisins, an Artisan Good that can be made out of grapes.

Getting the value out of raisins in isn't something that will happen early in the life of a farm, as putting them to use requires Junimo Huts to be built. These unusual structures can be acquired through completing a quest set by the Wizard, which won't become accessible until completing Community Center bundles. Junimo Huts are a major key to large, high-efficiency operations due to their auto-harvesting abilities, but adding raisins into the mix unlocks another dimension of utility entirely.

When raisins are placed inside a Junimo Hut, the hut gains a chance to double harvest crops in . In general, this seems to result in about 20% higher yield, which is significant even as a one-time phenomenon and can quickly add up when used repeatedly. This concept is teased in Secret Notes 24 and 26, which make mention of raisins as the favorite food and motivator of Junimos but clarify that they're "" to accept them directly.
