Old School RuneScape's Remade 2008 Grandmaster Quest, While Guthix Sleeps, is Now Live

Old School RuneScape’s reimagined classic quest, While Guthix Sleeps, is out today. Originally detailed back at the Winter Summit and in January with a roadmap release, the first-ever Grandmaster Quest is back.

The team decided to bring back the 2008 Grandmaster Quest with some tweaks after backporting it from the original. Continuing the Mahjarrat storyline, the remade quest uses the original as its basis and jumping off point, and the team backported it from the original but decided to make some changes for a number of reasons.

Yes, this is a remake of the original but they are enhancing it in a number of ways and adjusting the quest to bring it in line with the team's long-term story plans for OSRS. After all, 2008 was 16 years ago, and their vision for Old School RuneScape isn't a static one. but they still wanted to bring back this classic and do it justice.

Maybe you've played it before but maybe you haven't. Stop the Mahjarrat who is cooking up some dangerous schemes. An ancient artifact, the Stone of Jas, was hidden underground by Guthix to banish the gods after Zamorak’s failed plans. Yet, while Guthix sleeps…forces are coming to search for the stone and turn those schemes into reality

Your quest will take you into a Guthixian temple full of demons to take on, and rewards if you’re victorious. The quest is designed for the veteran player. Even if you've done the quest before, there are new rewards and changes to experience for the first time now. Demonbane weapons among them, Bone Claws, another unique drop, and more.

The team has prepared a list of prerequisites to take on this quest along with what skills you'll need to have a chance. As you go along you'll have a chance to earn a nice number of skill XP.

To prepare, the team will be holding a special stream tomorrow, with a Q&A with several Mods, details on the quest, rewards, lore, and even the process of bringing it all back. Happens at 4:00 p.m. BST /11:00 a.m. eastern time.
