NVIDIA Unveils Its Cutting-Edge Eos Supercomputer, A Technological Marvel With 18.4 Exaflops of AI Power

NVIDIA has unveiled its Eos supercomputer, which is a high-performing data-center-scale system targeted towards AI applications.

NVIDIA's EOS Supercomputer Packs 4,608 H100 AI GPUs, Delivering Up To 18.4 Exaflops of AI Compute

The importance of supercomputers has increased significantly in modern times, as the world transitions itself into developments revolving around AI. The integration of this technology into consumer applications requires much more than just the "brains", and that is where data centers like Eos come into play, which provides ample computing power to reach the desired development stage. NVIDIA's "AI factory", the Eos, has been ranked in 9th position in the Top500.org list.

Moving into the specifics, the Eos supercomputer is equipped with 576 NVIDIA DGX H100 systems, each of them containing eight of Team Green's cutting-edge H100 AI GPUs (a total of 4608 GPUs to be precise). To connect them all, NVIDIA utilizes the Quantum-2 InfiniBand architecture, which has upscaled Eos's capabilities to a whole new level. Combining them all, the Eos supercomputer can deliver a whopping 18.4 exaflops of FP8 AI performance, which is why it has been a key instrument for NVIDIA when it comes to progressing into the generative AI industry since such compute power gives them an edge.

NVIDIA's Eos supercomputer is indeed a technological marvel, and Team Green's consistent efforts to keep the system updated and running make it a huge contribution to the AI industry. EOS is one of the several supercomputing applications where we will see AI GPUs dominate and 2024 is going to be a massive year for the segment.
