No Man’s Sky Aquarius Update Finally Adds Fishing

Today, Hello Games is releasing a new No Man's Sky update titled Aquarius. As you can easily surmise, it is centered around water and more specifically it adds the long-requested fishing to the game. Sean Murray said in a press release that fans really loved the new water technology added in the Worlds Part I update a few weeks ago, inspiring the studio to add fishing next.

Players can now explore the universe to find their perfect spot on the water bouncing with fish, sitting alone and relaxing with their thoughts, or with fellow travelers looking out over alien vistas waiting for a bite. Featuring a vast array of fish, from common minnows to wild alien catches, each with its own habitat and fishing conditions. Bait your line to lure the rarest fish, or search the deep for hidden messages in a bottle. There are trophies to earn, fishing logs to complete, and new fishing gear to unlock. There's even a unique fishing expedition that sends No Man's Sky players on a quest for the biggest catch of the day.

Some new equipment introduced in the Aquarius update allows players to fish in deep water with ease from their personal fishing platform. New fishing pots can also be used to bait and trap rare catches. Cook up the day's catch with new recipe combinations waiting to be discovered.

Murray also said that the previous Worlds Part I update resulted in No Man's Sky's largest player base numbers in over five years. As such, Hello Games still has many plans to improve the game further, even now that it is over eight years old (it launched with many controversies back in August 106), and even despite its work-in-progress development of the fantasy game Light No Fire (which still has no release date).
