Nintendo Fan Creates N64 Controller With GBA Inside

A skilled Nintendo fan has modded an N64 controller to house a Game Boy Advance inside, and the results are astounding. Fans are impressed by the clever N64/Game Boy Advance build and are curious about how it came together.

Nintendo has repackaged several of its gaming systems over the years into smaller and more convenient sizes, like the Wii Mini or Game Boy Pocket. Most of these cases are just the original gaming hardware being made smaller, however. Where Nintendo doesn't deliver, however, fans are willing to step in and often come up with creative redesigns for gaming systems. The fact that a Wii as small as a pack of cards now exists is evidence of this, and this latest creation is just one more example.

Nintendo fan MaSaKee shared their creation on Reddit, impressing those in the comments. The series of images demonstrates the functioning Game Boy Advance, which plays off of a small screen in the center of the N64 controller. A look at the back shows where real cartridges can be inserted, allowing the player to play either Game Boy Advance or original Game Boy titles on the device. The controller has its own speaker, but also offers an audio jack for those who want to listen via headphones. The fan also added a pair of LED lights to indicate when the device is charging or powered on.

The last image is an interior shot of the controller, revealing the inner components of a Game Boy Advance stuffed inside. Trimming down a GBA motherboard was apparently a necessity to fit the N64 controller, but the original hardware is nonetheless in use. According to MaSaKee, the N64 controller itself is a shell that was salvaged from a broken controller. Numerous fans seemed interested in buying the one of a kind creation, but it's unclear if MaSaKee is willing to sell or produce more.

This is far from the first time that a fan of Nintendo has created a custom piece made out of multiple Nintendo systems and parts. Fans have previously found ways to turn a GBA into a Nintendo
