Nightingale Could Get Offline Solo Play, According To Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn

Co-operative online play is a big part of the upcoming game , but developer Inflexion Games might be open to some possibilities that could benefit other ways of playing. is a new take on the popular survival crafting genre that takes inspiration from the Victorian era and the fantastical twist of works like, sending players on a journey that crosses various Fae Realms full of wonder and danger. A unique mechanic called Realm Cards facilitates this adventure by offering up the keys for procedural generation and embracing the potential for surprising results.

At the moment, requires internet access to play, but this approach doesn't seem to be permanently set in stone. is launching into an early access period of continued development, and there's room for it to evolve throughout this window. In a Screen Rant interview with several key figures behind 's development, Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn revealed that the studio is open to exploring the implementation of offline play.

Screen Rant: Is an offline mode something that players can ever expect to see?

Aaryn Flynn: Yeah, I think so. In the sense that, when we engineered the always-online backend, it was in service of this vision of being able to always explore new realms, and we didn't know how to do that without a server being able to help manage all the data and stuff. But if we can do it for someone who just wants to play strictly solo, I'm very open to it.

Aaryn Flynn's statement could definitely provide some hope for players interested in an offline mode for, as it appears that the team would be perfectly happy to implement one if it became feasible within the scope of early access development. It's definitely not something to count on, however, as the always-online requirement seems to be a consequence of the unique realm generation mechanic.
