New Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Trailer Confirms The Return Of The Best Ocarina Of Time Feature

A new trailer for has confirmed the return of one of 's best features, along with another look at some of the tribes Zelda will be interacting with, and her traversal methods as she ventures across Hyrule. The game was announced at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct showcase and sees Princess Zelda in the lead role — rather than the series' usual playable protagonist, Link — and features an art style similar to that of the 2019 remake of.

A new post on the official Nintendo of America X account accompanied this trailer, reiterating some of its highlights: from the different regions of Hyrule players will be able to explore, new powers Zelda will be able to wield, and the fact that she will be able to ride horses across the map when not using waypoints for fast travel. Horse riding was first introduced to series as a gameplay mechanic in, but has appeared several times since, most recently in and.

Throughout the new footage, Zelda's horseback riding skills seem to make light work of weaker enemies, as she can gallop straight over them to send them flying. It also makes getting across the map far easier, as Zelda's horse can jump over small obstacles with ease.

Apart from the game's many wild horses, Link can find and tame six unique horses in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and each has its own pros and cons.

In and its sequel, players had to tame and register their new horse and learn how to ride it without getting bucked off. There's no confirmation as to whether these additional steps will be returning in or not, or if Zelda will simply have a horse she has already trained from the start.

Once Zelda can make a carrot echo, she's able to call upon her horse at any time.

There is a hint that if there aren't multiple horses that Zelda can ride in, there may be some form of customization available for Zelda's trusty steed.
