New X-Men '97 Arcade Cabinet Features 8 Classic Games

A new arcade cabinet has been revealed to accompany the launch of . The Disney+ revival of the popular 90's animated series picks up the story right where the original left off, and is filled with 90s nostalgia, and Disney has opted to lean into this by bringing back several classic titles from this era as part of the new arcade cabinet's library.

The arcade cabinet was developed by Marvel and leading arcade machine manufacturer, Arcade1Up, which previously developed the,, and cabinets, and more. The cabinet was unveiled during an invite-only Influencer event hosted at Disney’s Epcot on February 27th where 70 Disney Influencers were able to get hands-on with some of the retro titles included, and is available for pre-order now on Arcade1Up's official website.

As with Arcade1Up's other ¾ scale home arcades, the cabinet measures 61.5 inches tall, 23.5 inches deep, and 19.6 inches wide and comes with a 17-inch BOE Colour Monitor and light-up marquee and side panel displays. For the true arcade aesthetic, the cabinets also come with 3-D faux coin doors, although these are not functional.

Eight of the best arcade games from the '90s and early 2000s have been pre-loaded for players to jump right into, including the following:

The cabinet is designed to incorporate both the nostalgic arcade experience of playing multiplayer in-person with a 2-player control deck. It also uses more modern features such as Wi-Fi functionality to expand upon this with online leaderboards that will allow players to compete with others worldwide.

For anyone who grew up watching the classic animated series, and experienced these games either in arcades or upon their home releases on the original PlayStation, SNES, or Sega Saturn, Marvel and Arcade1Up's cabinet is certainly a nostalgia trip. The cabinet is currently listed at $499.99 for pre-order, discounted from a retail price of $599.99.
