New Steam Co-Op Survival Game is Getting Rave Reviews
The newly-released early access co-op survival crafting game Abiotic Factor is proving to be a big hit on Steam. Steam and its early access program have been huge for the survival genre, with all kinds of early access survival games finding a great deal of success on the platform. 2024, in particular, has been a big year for early access survival games on Steam, with multiple titles proving to be big hits.
The biggest example of this is Palworld, a game that blends Pokemon-like monster-catching gameplay with survival mechanics found in games like ARK. Enshrouded is another 2024 early access survival game that has been popular on Steam, with previous years offering games like Sons of the Forest, Valheim, and V Rising, the latter of which just released its big 1.0 update. Abiotic Factor was released on Steam early access on May 2. Offering co-op for up to 6 players, Abiotic Factor takes clear inspiration from Half-Life with its setting. The game features scientists working at a secret research facility plagued by dimensional portals. As one might imagine, all kinds of monstrosities come through these portals, and so players have to craft weapons and traps to fight back against them. In typical survival game fashion, players are also encouraged to build a base, cook food, and collect supplies they find on their adventures.
On paper, Abiotic Factor sounds like a recipe for success, and in practice, it's already proving to be quite popular with the community. Over 3,000 user reviews have been counted on Steam so far, leaving Abiotic Factor with an impressive «Overwhelmingly Positive» overall rating.
