A new report claims that Microsoft has ended development on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The remastered collection of classic entries in the beloved shooter series initially released back in 2014, but it's received numerous updates and multiplayer seasons since then, continuing to delight gamers for nearly a decade. While it faced issues at launch, especially regarding bugs and the multiplayer experience, developer 343 built Halo: The Master Chief Collection into a hit that still draws in fans today.

It may have had a rocky release, but The Master Chief Collection went on to join the ranks of titles that earned a post-launch redemption, and ultimately won over gamers. Sadly, the latest news is likely to disappoint players rather than excite them.

A new report from YouTuber and gaming reporter Rebs Gaming alleges that Microsoft has ended development on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The report cites an unnamed «primary source» with inside information about 343 Studios and explains that Microsoft made the decision to end development because the game lacked an ongoing revenue stream and out of fear of a possible recession. Some gamers will likely be surprised by this news, given that the Master Chief Collection got a new update just last month. It should be stressed that nothing official from Microsoft has been announced in regards to Master Chief Collection development plans.
