Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake Has Entered Full Production; Control 2 Is In “Production Readiness” Phase

Over two years since the official announcement, the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake has finally entered full production, Remedy Entertainment confirmed today.

In its latest financial report, the development studio provided an update on the projects currently in development, starting from the highly anticipated remake that will combine the first two entries in the series. According to today's update, the remake entered full production in the second quarter of 2024, and the current goal is to have the game in an early functional state from beginning to end.

Besides providing an update on the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake, Remedy Entertainment also revealed more on the state of Control 2 and the project codenamed Condor, a multiplayer game set in the world of Control. The second entry in the series entered the production readiness phase in the second quarter of the year, the final one before entering full production. A build showcasing important features in playable form has also been created. Regarding publishing the game, Remedy is talking to potential partners but still has to decide whether to self-publish the game and Condor or find a publisher. Project Condor also entered full production in March 2024, and the team is currently focusing on creating maps and mission types while continuing playtesting internally and externally, the latter in a limited capacity.

The Max Payne 1 and 2 remake developer also provided a small update on Alan Wake 2, its latest title. The game has yet to recoup its costs, and The Lake House is currently in the works for a yet-to-be-confirmed release date.

Not much is currently known about the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake as of now. Back when the remake was announced, Remedy confirmed it will be powered by the studio's Northlight Engine and will be in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production. A release window has yet to be confirmed.
