Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is in full production, Control 2 is now in a playable state

Remedy Entertainment has provided updates on several of its upcoming titles, including Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2 and Condor.

According to the developer, Control 2 has “progressed to the production readiness stage”. The game is now playable, as the team reaches an important milestone in the game’s development. “The development team is working towards scaling up the production of the project,” Remedy says.

Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, which Remedy is working on as a co-production with Rockstar, has “progressed from production readiness to the full production stage”. According to Remedy, the team is currently working towards a version of the game that is playable from beginning to end.

Remedy also provided an update on its project codenamed Condor. “The development team has worked on multiple maps and different mission types, and we have organized a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting for feature validation and feedback,” it says.

Alan Wake 2, Remedy’s most recent release, has also now recouped most of its development and marketing costs. Remedy released its first Alan Wake 2 DLC, Night Springs, in June.  A second expansion is due later this year.

Last year, in an interview with VGC, Remedy’s creative director Sam Lake said the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes were going to involve a lot of work.

“It is a significant undertaking in the sense that even if they are old games, just thinking about bringing them up to modern standards and combining them into one, you can see that it’s a big, big project,” he explained.

Upon being asked if he would be reprising his role as Max from the first game, Lake laughed.

“No comment!” he replied. “That’s going too far.”
