Lost Legions Is an Open World Survival Crafting Game Where You Play as a Roman Legionnaire

Today, Berlin-based developer Tarock Interactive announced Lost Legions as its debut title. This is another entry in the increasingly crowded open world survival crafting genre, but at least it has a decidedly different setting: the Roman Empire.

Players will step into the shoes of a Roman Legionnaire following the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest (also known as the Varian Disaster), one of the worst defeats in the history of the Roman Empire. Having survived the crushing defeat, players will have to assemble the scattered Legionnaires and restore the glory of Rome. To do so, they'll have to craft powerful tools, build fortified war camps, and use strategic skills to establish a Roman foothold in the hostile Germanic land.

Tarock Interactive claims to follow historical accuracy thanks to a collaboration with professional historians. Players will be allowed to explore diverse biomes, from eerie forests to icy mountain tops. Foes include brutal barbarian tribes and ferocious beasts who will stand between them and the main objective of recovering the three lost banners of the fallen Legions.

Lost Legions allows solo play or online cooperative play for up to four players. Combat is said to be equipment-based; the various weapons sport unique attacks and different blocking styles. There are also ranged and thrown weapons. The building system is said to be flexible, allowing the construction of anything from a small shelter to an entire war camp. It is also possible to conquer enemy villages and rebuild them as you see fit. As you save and recruit NPC Legionnaires, you can then send them out to gather resources for you or find points of interest.
