Intel Arc Battlemage “Xe2” GPUs Heading For Launch In 2024, Bring Big Performance Improvements

Intel's next-generation Arc Battlemage "Xe2" GPUs are reportedly launching in Q4 2024 & bring significant performance uplifts over Alchemist.

Intel Arc Battlemage "Xe2" Discrete Graphics Card Lineup Now Reportedly Launching in Q4 2024

Intel recently held a conference in China in collaboration with ASUS where they talked about their next-generation product lineups such as CPUs and GPUs. These products are designed for the DIY "Client" segment and it looks like the company is on a trajectory to launch its next-gen Arc graphics cards, codenamed Battlemage, based on the Xe2 graphics architecture later this year.

The information posted by 小敌鸽 suggests that the Intel Arc Battlemage "Xe2" graphics card will make a format debut by the end of this year and the performance will be improved greatly. From what we know, the Intel Xe2 graphics architecture brings a 50% improvement in performance and also incorporates new architectural changes such as brand new Ray Tracing Units and VCC support.

The first product family to make use of the Xe2 graphics architecture will be Lunar Lake CPUs which will debut on the 3rd of September. These chips feature up to 8 Xe2 cores clocked at up to 2.05 GHz while the discrete graphics cards which will be introduced under the Arc series will run a lot faster thanks to higher TDPs and dedicated cooling solutions.

During its Tech Day at Computex 2024, Intel said that they weren't backing out of the discrete GPU race and showcased the first Battlemage die. The configurations that we have seen so far are also based around Lunar Lake so expect Battlemage "Xe2" discrete GPUs to be significantly bigger and different than what you get on Lunar Lake. Some of the highlighted features include new media engines, new display engines, and a lot more such as:

  • 2nd Gen Xe2 Cores
  • Enhanced
