Here’s all the big news announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024

Gamescom has officially gotten underway in Germany, but before the world’s most-attended gaming trade show kicked off, Geoff Keighley hosted his annual Opening Night Live presentation.

The show, which ran for just over two hours, included announcements about new games, as well as updates to existing titles.

Below is a round-up of the biggest news from the show. VGC is on the ground at Gamescom, and you can expect hands-on reports for some of the biggest games at the show soon.

Raccoon Logic has announced the sequel to 2020 first-person adventure, Journey to the Savage Planet, Revenge of the Savage Planet

Announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, a teaser trailer revealed that the sequel will feature single-player, online co-op, crossplay, and split-screen modes.

Supermassive Games has announced Directive 8020, A Dark Pictures game.

The horror title will be released in 2025 and stars Lashana Lynch.

The game’s debut trailer, which you can watch below, debuted at Gamescom Opening Night Live.  Directive 8020 is coming to Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Borderlands 4 has been announced for release in 2025.

“In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet,” reads the description accompanying the reveal trailer.

Activision has shown off the first campaign footage for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Debuted during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the gameplay trailer showed off a stealth section during which a player uses a camera to collect evidence. Following this, the mission descended into a more typical Call of Duty level.

Dying Light: The Beast has been announced from Techland.

The game will feature “20+ hours of content,” and feature Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the first Dying Light game, according to an announcement.
