Helldivers 2 Patch Update Fixes Major Problem With PC Release Of The Game

The PC launch of has been a rough experience, but a new update might be the solution to some of the biggest problems that are plaguing the game. Although the buzz around the actual gameplay experiencehas been widely positive, the same can't be said for the challenge of getting to that gameplay. From optimization struggles to overburdened servers, there's been a lot standing in the way of the high-intensity bug-slaying action that's quickly taken Steam by storm.

Patch 1.000.11, available on the official Steam news page for, introduces multiple fixes to GameGuard, an anti-cheat solution that's been making it significantly harder for some players to log in to the game. Error Code 114 and Error Code 360 have both been common pop-ups, and fixing them isn't always reliable or easy. The new patch addresses problems with GameGuard relating to Steam's "" process and Windows Firewall, which should both reduce the likelihood of encountering an error and make the process of addressing one more effective.

The overall focus of Patch 1.000.11 is on major problems that make playing impossible, and some of the other changes could be just as useful as the ones targeting GameGuard. One particularly welcome inclusion is a new 15-minute idle timer, which makes it impossible for players to hog the limited server space by keeping their game open while not actually playing. The update also covers a variety of fixes for crashes, which tended to be particularly frustrating since it could be so hard to log back in to afterward.

None of this means that playing on PC will be entirely smooth sailing yet, as the patch notes also contain a list of known problems that will persist after the update, some as a side effect of its fixes. The idle timer is also more of a band-aid for the limited server capacity than an actual solution, so it may still be some time before the game is easily playable during peak hours.
