Grand Theft Auto 5 Actor Worked on DLC, But It Was Canceled

Steven Ogg, the actor who famously voiced Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist Trevor Philips, recently stated that he recorded dialogue for a DLC campaign that was ultimately canceled. Grand Theft Auto 5 is considered to be one of the biggest and best video games ever made, and a large part of its success lies in its memorable cast of characters. This includes Trevor, the trigger-happy partner of fellow GTA 5 playable character Michael De Santa who makes his way to the crime-ridden city of Los Santos after discovering that his old friend is still alive following a bank heist gone wrong.

The playable trio of Michael, Trevor, and Franklin Clinton get into all kinds of wild misadventures in Grand Theft Auto 5, and last year it was discovered that Rockstar was once planning GTA 5 single-player DLC. While digging through Grand Theft Auto 5’s source code, dataminers uncovered what appeared to be working titles for multiple DLC stories that were either scrapped altogether or reworked into Grand Theft Auto Online expansions. One of these unproduced DLC campaigns would have been set before the events of the main game and detailed Michael and Trevor’s old life as bank robbers in North Yankton.

Another canceled Grand Theft Auto 5 DLC campaign, titled “Agent Trevor,” would have seen the resident smuggler take up work as an undercover agent for the federal government, and Steven Ogg recently discussed this during a reunion Q and A podcast. Ogg confirmed the “James Bond Trevor” premise and stated that he “shot some stuff” for the expansion, in which Trevor is doing his best under the circumstances.

Some other details about the scrapped Grand Theft Auto 5 “Agent Trevor” DLC suggest that the story would have culminated in Trevor going to space, but as Michael actor Ned Luke notes the expansion was ultimately scrapped due to the surprise success of Grand Theft Auto Online.
