God of War Ragnarok Early PC/PS5 Comparison Highlights Better Ambient Occlusion, Lighting

An early God of War Ragnarok PC, PlayStation 5 comparison video was shared online, highlighting the improvements the PC version of the game will feature over the PlayStation 5 release.

The video, which was put together by Cycu1, is based on the reveal trailer shared during last week's State of Play, so the comparison may not be one hundred percent accurate. Even so, it's very easy to tell how ambient occlusion is definitely better on PC, and lighting in some scenarios. For the rest, the two versions of the game don't seem to be that much different, although there's no doubt that God of War Ragnarok will be a better experience on PC, as those with powerful enough hardware won't have to choose between Quality and Performance modes.

God of War Ragnarok will launch on PC on September 13th. The PC version, which is being developed by Jetpack Interactive, will come with unlocked framerates, NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS 1.3 support, super ultra-widescreen support, and the Valhalla expansion, a roguelite take on the main campaign formula that I found to be extremely enjoyable, as I highlighted in my review.

With its roguelite take on the base game's formula, engaging story, decent amount of new content and excellent accessibility, God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is a great expansion that is worthy of any God of War's fans time. The focus on combat may turn some players off, but it's only a minor issue in an expansion that could have been easily sold as paid DLC.

God of War Ragnarok is now available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It will launch on PC on September 13th.
