FromSoftware Has Bad News for Elden Ring Fans

FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will be the one and only expansion ever released for Elden Ring. Elden Ring was a massive, unprecedented success for FromSoftware when it was released in 2022. The award-winning, critically-acclaimed open world game set sales records for FromSoftware, created a bunch of new Soulslike fans, and has been hailed as one of the absolute best video games ever made.

Previous FromSoftware games have featured DLC expansions to give players more to conquer beyond the base game. The Shadow of the Erdtree release date is June 21, 2024, over two years since the original game launched. This is the longest time between base game release and DLC launch for any FromSoftware game, and it makes sense that the studio may want to move on to new things when it's done.

FromSoftware's next major game remains a mystery, but many are hoping to see an Elden Ring sequel. While there may not be more new DLC for the original Elden Ring,
