Free Horror Game Released for Xbox

The new free-to-play horror game Deceit 2 has just been released for Xbox. Deceit 2 is a free-to-play social deduction horror game, essentially playing like a horror version of Among Us in which players need to gather clues to discover who is trying to kill them, and could be a fine addition for Xbox players.

Deceit 2 was originally released for PC back in 2023, quickly becoming a free-to-play game soon after launch. Developed by World Makers, the title was a sequel to Deceit, which was originally released in 2017, before Among Us popularized social deduction games.

Now, Deceit 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S for free. During each game, up to nine players are locked in an abandoned area where they play as Infected, Innocent, or Cursed. The Innocent players need to team up against the others, discovering who the Infected are and getting rid of these foes to win the match. While the Innocent and the Infected are fighting each other, though, there's a third force: the Cursed. The Cursed player try to fool both sides using special curses and is essentially playing by themself. When the Infected are discovered, they can be defeated via the Banishing Ritual, but there are consequences for getting the wrong person.

This version of the game comes with full crossplay support, allowing players to have matches with people using other platforms. While Deceit 2 is entirely free-to-play, players can spend $6.99 to purchase premium DLC for the game, the “Werewolf Pack.”

Overall, Deceit 2 plays similarly to the first game in the franchise, but in improved ways. In the first game, only up to six people could play together, for example. With more people in a match in the sequel, two of them can be the Infected, and up to six players can be the Innocent. Due to this mixture of horror and social deduction, Deceit 2 will likely be interesting for both players who like social deduction games like Among Us and other multiplayer horror games like the popular Dead By Daylight.
