Fortnite Players Frustrated by Fall Damage Issue

Fortnite players have expressed their frustration over a new fall-damage bug that can lead to disastrous outcomes. The issue seems to be linked to one of the items introduced in Fortnite's recent update.

Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 update introduced a partially redesigned map, new weapons, and new Mythic items. These items include the Thunderbolt of Zeus and Wings of Icarus, with the latter allowing users to fly, divebomb, and negate any fall damage while the item is equipped. Additionally, another Mythic power will be added later in the season, the Chains of Hades. While the current powers have proven to be useful tools, they can also come with new, frustrating bugs.

Reddit user Dragathor shared a clip on the FortniteBR subreddit that showed their unfortunate demise while using the Wings of Icarus. The user was attempting to use the Wings' fall-damage buff by equipping the item as they slid down a steep cliff face. However, just before reaching the bottom, the user unequipped the Wings while still traveling at a very low speed, causing them to fall for the last foot or so. For one reason or another, the tiny low-speed fall resulted in a massive amount of fall damage and caused the user to instantly die. The game seemed to be confused with the player's use of the Wings and concluded that they fell the entire distance of the cliff face, instead of the actual scenario that saw the user slowly glide down it.

Users who fall prey to this bug have become understandably frustrated, as it can cost an entire match. Dragathor's post was sarcastically titled, «Love how fun and consistent fall damage is.» They placed in second as a result of the glitch. Until the bug is fixed, users should be careful to keep Fortnite's Wings equipped until they reach the bottom of a fall, no matter how low their speed is.

It's still unclear whenFortnite's newest bugs will be fixed. However, fans do have a good idea when Fortnite's Avatar: The Last Airbender event begins, which is apparently
