Former Xbox Console Exclusive Releases on PS5 Today

The critically-acclaimed Immortality, that was previously only available on consoles through Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S machines, has made its way to the Sony PlayStation 5 today. This title, which used to be available on Xbox’s Game Pass service, was among the highest-rated games of its year, and it even won several prestigious awards.

It is not that unusual for games that first launched on only a handful of systems to receive ports for other platforms later into their life cycles. The horror adventure game Scorn, for example, was released for the PS5 in October 2023, or around a year after it originally debuted on the PC and Xbox's Series X|S consoles. Now Immortality has undergone a similar development.

Originally released for the PC and Xbox Series X|S in August 2022, the interactive film game Immortality can finally be enjoyed by PS5 users starting January 23. For $19.99, the title will immerse players in a gripping mystery story crafted by renowned developer Sam Barlow. The British game designer was behind the similarly captivating Her Story, which has been lauded as being one of the best story-heavy games of all time.

Prior to coming to the PS5, Immortality could also be played on macOS systems, as well as on iOS and Android devices. It used to be available on Xbox Game Pass too, but it left the game subscription service last August. Fortunately, there are still a lot of great indie games on Xbox Game Pass, including many horror titles that fans of Immortality might enjoy.

Following its initial launch, Immortality became one of the highest-rated games of 2022, joining the likes of Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok. Immortality's acting performances, in particular, received high praise from critics, and actor Manon Gage, who portrayed the game's central figure, Marissa Marcel, ended up bagging the Best Performer trophy at the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards. Immortality itself would receive several prestigious accolades, including the British Academy Games Award
