Former NVIDIA Researcher Gives Credit To CUDA For Green Team’s Dominance In The AI Market

NVIDIA's former researcher has made interesting claims about the company's reign within the AI space, stating that its CUDA software ecosystem helped it a lot in securing dominance over the competition.

NVIDIA's Roboust Software Ecosystem, Including CUDA, Has Been The Reason Behind The Firm's Massive Success In The AI Segment

The noise of NVIDIA's CUDA has been witnessed through every other platform, whether it is among firms like Intel and AMD, trying to come head-to-head with the ecosystem, or even individual researchers who have explored the potential of NVIDIA's AI-dedicated libraries.

In an interview with NVIDIA's former researcher, it was revealed that despite best efforts from the competition, the CUDA platform has managed to retain its dominance in the markets, and it is NVIDIA's key weapon for substantial financial progress in the markets. The researchers say that the only difference between NVIDIA and others is CUDA, and this "wall" hasn't been breached yet. We have seen Intel merge up with several other firms to try and break CUDA's monopoly on AI and the same is happening at AMD who are placing bets on their ROCm software suite by making it more open-source. Even Jim Keller is going all-in against CUDA.

The researcher suggests that users on AMD's platform could leverage the company's HIPIFY set of tools. These tools are designed to convert CUDA code into portable HIP C++, which then makes that patch of code compatible with AMD's ROCm. Such code porting tools have seen immense popularity among those bridging the gap across multiple architectures, and another example is the emergence of ZLUDA, which does the same job as HIPIFY through translation layers. Still, the tool was later banned through a revised EULA by NVIDIA.

The NVIDIA researcher believes that clients looking to pursue AI must deem NVIDIA the best fit since investing in
