Forgotten Super Mario Game Gets New Update 8 Years After Launch

Nintendo's Super Mario Run has received a new update eight years after it first launched. Super Mario Run is the main series Super Mario game that often gets overlooked whenever fans are talking about the franchise. There are some who don't even consider it a proper Super Mario game because it has only ever been released for Android and iOS mobile devices, as opposed to a dedicated Nintendo console.

Super Mario Run stands as one of Nintendo's few efforts to break into the mobile gaming space. Instead of going with a free-to-play economy like most mobile games on the market, Super Mario Run features more a traditional distribution model, requiring players to actually purchase the game to play it. It earned mostly positive reviews, but its review scores were still considerably lower than most games in the beloved platformer franchise.

WithSuper Mario Run reviews failing to impress compared to its counterparts and the game being released on mobile platforms, it's really no surprise that it gets overlooked so much.
