Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.0 to Introduce 120 FPS Support on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

The upcoming Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 patch will bring plenty of visual improvements to the MMORPG, as well as 120 FPS support on consoles and NVIDIA DLSS support on PC, among other things.

As confirmed by the preliminary 7.0 patch notes found on the game's official website, the upcoming patch will introduce 120 FPS support on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game, however, is not expected to run at the maximum framerate all the time, so it will be very interesting to see how it will run with the new visual improvements the patch will bring, which include improved hair and face textures, changes in lighting due to the passage of time, soft shadows, improvement for lenses in glasses and other glass objects, metallic material on certain gear, water and waves, fog, textures of distant terrain when riding a Mount and more.

The upcoming Final Fantasy XIV patch will also bring some PC-specific improvements, such as AMD FSR 1.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 upscaling, which were both announced a while back, anti-aliasing via TSMCAA and SSAO via GTAO.

The Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 patch also brings plenty of additional content as part of the new Dawntrail expansion. You can find the full patch notes by going here.

Final Fantasy XIV is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game could be released on Nintendo Switch 2 as well, but not in its launch window.
