Final Fantasy XIV Announces Convoluted Xbox-Specific Currency, FFXIV Coins

Final Fantasy XIV is finally making its way to Xbox in just a few more days, and with it comes a convoluted way to use the in-game store for those who play the game on the Xbox Series X/S console.

Final Fantasy XIV Coins will become available once the MMO launches on Xbox on March 21, 2024. Of course, this currency can be purchased with real money and can be used within the game's online store on Xbox.

The store features mounts, weapons, furniture, minions, and more. The currency can also be used in-game at the Mog Station, which adds game time or upgrades the user's version of the game via their account.

For those who will only be playing Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox Series X/S, Square Enix states they will be able to purchase these new FFXIV Coins and use them for online purchases, while other platform users will simply use real money for purchases through the store or Mog Station.

Now, this could be good for those with a plethora of Microsoft rewards, as players could possibly redeem those points to purchase coins on the Xbox platform. However, until the feature goes live, we won’t know for certain if that is possible.
