Most of the work you do in will go towards increasing your Town Rank, and upping this rank quickly will open up the game so you can play however you please. In order to increase your Town Rank, you'll need to complete activities that award Renown; after every 10 Renown, your Town Rank will go up by one.

As your Town Rank increases, the town of Mistria will become more and more popular, giving you rewards per Rank as well as unlocking new areas and activities. Additionally,it will open up quite a few quests that will, in turn, reward you with more Renown and increase your Rank further.
