Fallout 4: Should You Save Or Kill The Mechanist?

's DLC sets the Sole Survivor on a mission of tracking down and dealing with the evil Mechanist who was terrorizing the Commonwealth. Of course, things are never as simple as they seem in, leading to a tough choice for many at the end of the DLC's storyline. Misinformation and misunderstandings lead to tragedy in the wasteland, but it is possible to find a happy ending.

The questline for will begin automatically once the Sole Survivor reaches level 15, and a caravan distress call will appear on their Pip-Boy radio. Heading to Wattz Consumer Electronics, just a little northwest of Bunker Hill, the grisly aftermath of a battle can be found, with the only survivor being a robot named Ada. Ada will then join as a new companion in to help during the short but tough Automatron questline.

Blind Betrayal comes near the end of Fallout 4's Brotherhood of Steel questline and forces the player to make some tough choices about Paladin Danse.

After upgrading Ada at a robot workbench and tracking down various robobrains, the Sole Survivor will eventually learn the location of the devious Mechanist's lair. This is a huge area with plenty of places to explore and discover information about the facility. All of this leads to a final confrontation with the Mechanist in their headquarters that reveals some startling truths behind their motivations.

The Mechanist's various robots have been terrorizing the Commonwealth under the command of robobrain leaders. Each group will attack settlers, raiders, and generally anyone who gets hold of them. However, what makes the Mechanist's minions stand out is that the entire time they are killing, they will blast out a message of peace from the Mechanist.

«Attention, people of the Commonwealth! I, the Mechanist, have come to bring about an age of peace. Do not be alarmed. These robots are your allies, your protectors, and they will not rest until the Commonwealth is saved. Together we will restore justice and bring about the dawn of a new age.»
