Fallout 4 Clip Shows Bizarre Cait Interaction

AFallout 4 player shares a clip in which Cait floats up to them as if she's swimming through the air. There are many Fallout 4 companions to choose from, and Cait has become a favorite with some players, but this may be the most bizarre thing that she's done.

There are 17 Fallout 4 companions, each with their own specialties and storytelling possibilities. As companions will approve or disapprove of a players actions, some incorporate certain ones into evil or good playthroughs. Cait becomes available as a companion after the Combat Zone near Boston Common is cleared and the player talks to Tommy Lonegan. The NPC has a background in cage fighting, and she will use Psycho, Jet, RadAway, and other Chems in encounters, making her particularly useful. One gamer has spotted Cait acting bizarrely as she follows them, swimming in midair rather than running to catch up.

Reddit user BudderTheLordOfCarbs recently shared a clip of Fallout 4 companion Cait following them from behind a building. The video begins with the player backtracking and opening a gate for Cait, with the NPC noticeably moving strangely in the background. As the gamer approaches Cait, it becomes obvious that the character is performing a swimming animation despite being on dry land. This animation is normally reserved for moving through bodies of water scattered around the Boston Commonwealth and was seemingly mistakenly triggered. Given the rarity of this issue, the Reddit user has attributed the animation mix-up to being something introduced in the next-gen update.

As the community has already noted, this animation bug has been part of the game for a while and wasn't introduced in the latest patch. Though Cait is rarely seen in this position, a large chunk of the player base uses other companions which reduces the likelihood of the NPC receiving this bug. Other players have spotted Fallout 4 merchants stuck in the swimming animation, resulting in a bouncing dialogue sequence when interacting with them.
