Every Helldivers 2 Automaton Enemy, Ranked By How Scary They Are

In , facing off against the Automatons is a terrifying experience, but each unit can strike different levels of fear into Helldivers. The insect Terminid faction fits into the horror sci-fi theme goes for, but the Automatons feel like the perfect fit. These endlessly mass-produced robots have given Helldivers their fair share of trouble, especially with an invasion shortly after launch that was so brutal it required a nerf for a specific type of mission. So far, it would seem the consensus is that, while both factions are far from easy, the Automatons are the more difficult fight.

Compared to the Terminids, the Automatons, likely the Cyborg replacement for , utilize more ranged units, with some tanky melee units, to attack Helldivers. They will not swarm in numbers as much as the Terminids, but being overrun by the Automatons is hard to come back from and feels like an instant mission failure. Most of the Automatons use heavier armor than Helldivers may be used to, requiring proper heavy weapon shots to precise points. This makes battles against the Automatons more strategic than when facing the Terminids.

These Automatons are the most common unit Helldivers will face on a mission. While they're all the same unit, their name is differentiated by the weapons they use. These units like to shoot at Helldivers as they close the gap to raise their accuracy, with their damage being considerable from the units that carry grenades/rocket launchers. The counter to this is that these Troopers are extremely fragile, often only requiring one or two bullets to the head to kill.

The Commissar is not very different from the Troopers, with two major differences. The first is that these units will often be the ones to call in reinforcements, and the Commissars are more likely to chase Helldivers around for melee attacks.
