Every FF7 Rebirth Mount, Ranked By How Cool It Is

Though is known as the game that popularized perhaps the most widely-known mount, the Chocobo, actually has multiple modes of traversal in the expansive open-world RPG. In addition to a wide array of different Chocobo types that are obtainable — including flying Chocobos — there are also other modern vehicles people can obtain throughout the game.

Unlike the original, Rebirth boasts a huge, explorable open-world map, spanning from the wide-open Grasslands to the dusty regions of Cosmo Canyon. The opportunity to capture the first Chocobo will occur in the Grasslands Region in Chapter 2 of the game and will be the common yellow Chocobo first introduced in back in 1988. As one progresses, however, many variations will become available, including some non-Chocobo modes of transport.

The Grasslands Chocobo is the first one caught in the game and is the classic yellow Chocobo people have gotten to know over the years. This is the first introduction to Chocobos in the game and starts at the Chocobo Ranch by talking to Billy. Eventually, this initiates the minigame that involves stealing around a herd of Chocobos to get close enough to capture Piko. This will be a recurring mini-objective in with more advanced Chocobos later in the game.

Chocobos can also uncover hidden treasures throughout the world by using the Scent button while riding one.

There are actually a few different colored Wheelies in as part of a quest in Costa del Sol called «Wheelie Rendezvous.» Characters simply have to talk to the Wheelie associate to begin a quest to transport unreturned wheelies to their dropoff stations for a reward of two Companion Cards. However, outside of moving slightly faster (not unlike the contraption in real life), using a Wheelie for actual traversal across the open world is probably one of the worst options.
