Elon Musk’s “Power” Is Behind Disruptions In Venezuela President Maduro Appears To Allege

Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro has alleged that SpaceX and Tesla billionaire Elon Musk has hacked the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, leaving Maduro unable to share election results. Maduro's allegations are the latest in the spat between the Venezuelan president and the billionaire, with the two having gone head to head via posts on social media and press conferences. These have seen Maduro invite Musk to a one on one brawl, and the latter accepted his offer on the condition that he step down if Musk wins. Venezuela's elections are the latest in a global bout of political instability, with the US government also taking a position and sharing that it believes Venezuela's opposition leader won the election.

A clip of Maduro's accusations was shared on X, where he appears to be talking about an alleged cyber attack against the Venezuelan communications system and particularly the system that involves the country's National Electoral Council. A machine translated version of the audio shows Maduro outlining that he has asked Russia and China to evaluate the integrity of the infrastructure, and the clip ends with the president stating that he is certain that the disruption has been "directed by the power of Elon Musk."

In response, Musk shared an image of an advertisement run by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) which offers an award of up to $15 million for the arrest or conviction of the Venezuelan president. Musk's caption accuses Maduro of "getting high on his own very large supply of drugs," followed by an assertion that the image he has shared is an "actual, real DEA reward poster."
