Elden Ring Players Beware: There's A Seriously Dangerous Exploit Plaguing PvP

players who enjoy duking it out with other Tarnished should be aware of a new exploit that's making multiplayer more difficult than it's ever been. While FromSoftware's catalog of RPGs is known for their punishing combat and brutal challenges, there's no system that better exemplifies that than multiplayer which can often be a grueling experience. Only the most practiced players with builds able to smite gods rise to the top of the PvP mode, but even they aren't safe from this new exploit.

Posted to X (formerly Twitter) by user OnlyWaifu, per GamesRadar+, the exploit involves equipping the Eclipse Shotel in both hands, ensuring the Death Flare skill is active, and then using the Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle.

The resulting cloud triggers a rapid build-up of Death Blight which instantly kills anyone affected by the status. Players are using it to blanket a small area, ensuring that enemies who come within the cloud can't shake the Death Blight and die before they're able to engage in a fight properly.

Some Elden Ring players are using more PvP-oriented builds, like St. Trina's sleep build, for PvE encounters, which may make the game harder.

The Eclipse Shotel exploit may be frustrating for players looking to take a quick PvP break from, but it's worth noting that it likely won't be around for long.FromSoftware is currently in the process of preparing the game for its next balance patch and it's highly likely that the studio is aware of the issue. When the next hotfix is scheduled to drop is currently unknown but it seems like a safe bet that PvP should be back to normal relatively soon.

It's worth noting that while Death Blight is deeply annoying even outside of PvP, the exploit doesn't guarantee the user a clean victory. Since the cloud emitted by the Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle emanates from the caster, they'll also be caught within the area of effect and will thus be impacted by Death Blight. It may not be the best way to win a fight but at least victims can
