Elden Ring Player Wins Once In A Lifetime Rune Lottery In A Very Unexpected Way

An player has received more runes than they know what to do with via a random interaction with a helpful stranger. Like most Soulsborne games, includes a system of player-versus-player invasions. In short, one player can opt to invade another random player's world, popping up in a nearby location and attempting to kill them in exchange for their runes. But if the host defeats the invader, they'll claim the hostile player's runes instead. Although toxic invaders do exist, the invasion system is mostly a source of good, clean, adversarial fun.

But one player is using the invasion system for a whole different kind of purpose: boundless generosity. A Reddit post by Emergencyailoli recounts a random invasion in which another player appeared in their game, dropped multiple stacks each of various types of consumable runes, then disappeared without a word. That includes 99 stacks of Marika's Runes, which are worth 80,000 runes each. Combined with the hundreds of other runes, that sends the grand total skyrocketing over 8,000,000 runes. Other commenters compared them to generous figures of myth, like Santa Claus or Robin Hood.

This gift of runes completely changes the game for the player who received them, allowing them to enjoy a completely different playstyle. Of course, it'd be tempting to just run to the nearest Site of Grace, pop every single one of them, and level up to their heart's content. That'd certainly put them at the right level to complete with ease, and then some. With the leftover runes, they could upgrade all their weapons to max level, or stock up on tons of consumables and crafting materials.

It takes 1,692,566,842 runes to go from level one to the maximum level of 713, so get grinding!
