Elden Ring Patch 1.14 Repeats An Infamous Update Over Two Years Later

The latest patch is repeating history. version 1.14 was released on September 10, 2024across all platforms. This is the second major update for since the release of its first and only DLC,, and a relatively simple one overall. According to its patch notes, most of its improvements focus on adjusting and rebalancing, especially as regards 's bosses.

patches are known for reinventing the wheel, but that's not because they make such enormous, sweeping changes; rather, it's because every aspect of the game is so fine-tuned that the slightest tweak can turn one of 's hardest boss battles into a cakewalk. The pre- and post-patch versions of the same boss can play like two completely different fights, and the pre-patch versions often become notorious for their relative difficulty. FromSoftware fans are no stranger to this sort of thing — it's just unusual that it's happened to the same guy twice.

's latest patch nerfs the final boss of , Promised Consort Radahn, in much the same way an earlier patch nerfed Starscourge Radahn. Promised Consort Radahn (along with his second form Radahn, Consort of Miquella) has been nerfed across three categories: general damage, stamina damage, and attack range. In addition, Radahn's attack pattern at the beginning of battle has changed, possibly meaning he'll be a little less likely to fire off ranged blasts the second the player crosses the fog wall.
