While fans are undoubtedly eager to play , it may not be the reinvention of the franchise that many assume it will be. During the Nintendo Direct wherein the latest top-down was announced, the community was stunned to learn that the titular princess is actually stepping in the spotlight for the first time as the playable protagonist while Link takes a back seat and awaits rescue. As exciting as the change-up is, Zelda seemingly won't be the only character players control in the game.

Per an ESRB rating, Link will be playable in, debunking speculation that users would only control Zelda for the game's duration. While those who enjoy Link may be excited to realize that Nintendo hasn't completely put him aside, it's still a shame that Zelda doesn't get to have the stage to herself in her own game.
