Dragon’s Dogma 2: Should You Sell Jasper, Onyx, & Tiger Eye?

Like any good open-world RPG, features many collectible items for a player to add to their pack. Some are crafting materials, some are used to enhance equipment, while others are used to heal or recover stamina. There are items, however, that serve very little use outside of being sold to make a tidy profit. New equipment costs a lot of gold, after all, and an Arisen will need that gold to stake their claim to the throne.

At first glance, precious gems, such as Jasper, Onyx, and Tiger Eye, have no apparent uses. They do fetch a pretty penny, and although they aren't the most abundant item found in, their rarity is what makes them so valuable. Still, these items aren't heavy and can always be deposited for later use in an Arisen's Storage Chest if a player doesn't want them clogging up room in their inventory.

These precious gems area type of Valuable and are often quest items. Some enemies will drop these gems, but the drop rate for them is very low. For instance, Onyx, a quest reward after completing «A Beggar's Tale,» has a 1 — 5% drop rate against goblins (depending on the specific goblin). Even Onyx's item description states that it is "«which helps explain why it costs as much as it does.

Typically, if an Arisen chooses not to sell these precious gems, they can instead gift them to NPCs. Each of the three gemstones will gain a player 50 Favor with an NPC that likes them as a gift.Increasing Favor with an NPC will also increase their Affinity, which can lower shop prices, unlock new quests, or result in an NPC gifting something back to the Player. It's a worthwhile endeavor, but these items are the only ones that can be used as gifts.

A Storage Chest can be accessed at any inn or a player's home, which can prove incredibly useful because of the limiting weight capacity of the Arisen. Items from Pawns can also be placed here, so make sure to use the Storage Chest to keep items that may prove useful later.
