Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mods Allow Players to Easily Bypass Microtransactions

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally here, and while many are enjoying the experience, there have been some complaints, leading to a bit of a mini-backlash against the game. One of the issues that’s brought up in a lot of negative reviews on Steam and elsewhere are microtransactions tied to items that provide quality-of-life features like being able to re-edit your character, place warp makers, and more. Now, most of these things can be earned via regular play in-game, but getting them is just difficult enough that some may be enticed to pay real money for them. Here’s the list of the items you can buy with real money or earn in game (there are also a couple of music and sound collections that can only be purchased with real money).

  • Art of Metamorphosis – Allows player to edit your character
  • Ambivalent Rift Incense – Allows player to change their Pawn inclinations
  • Portcrystal - Warp location marker
  • Wakestone – Restore any party member who’s fallen
  • 500 Rift Crystals, 500 Rift Crystals, 2500 Rift Crystals – Currency to spend beyond the Rift
  • Makeshift Gaol Key - Escape from gaol
  • Harpysnare Smoke Beacons - Harpy lure item

Well, much like with DLSS 3 implementation, on PC modders are stepping in to “fix” Dragon’s Dogma 2’s microtransaction problem. One mod, “Crazy’s Shop” adds a new shop to the early-game town Vernworth which offers all the items Capcom is trying to sell for real money in one handy location. Meanwhile, “Early n' Cheap Art of Metamorphosis” does exactly what it says, making the item needed to edit characters accessible for cheap early in the game (thanks to Eurogamer for surfacing these).
